You can find most of these ideas at the dollar store and shopping around thrift shops and local stores.

1. Fall Pumpkin Garden Patch Halloween Activities for Kids

Fall Garden pumpkin patch

Make your own fall pumpkin garden patch with your kids this Halloween. This beautiful garden was very fun to create.

Fresh mulch, lovely white stones, fun Halloween decorations, and fall decor. My son’s grandmother, who I call Mama Dee, gave us all of these beautiful decorations. Thank you!

Here are some steps to have the most incredible little garden this fall: Use three to seven big gardening pots; if you have many helping hands, this will be a breeze.

Place fall and Halloween-themed decorations throughout your garden and make a memorable place for everyone to gather in the fall.

2. Halloween Activities for Kids: DIY Pumpkin Sack

This family-friendly activity is excellent for rambunctious kids who have a lot of energy to burn out.

My adorable nephews, sons, and niece enjoyed this Halloween activity.

The safe and effective pumpkin sack is perfect for your kids. They can use it as a comfy seat for story time, a boxing stand, or a cuddle buddy.

Using a pencil, outline a jack-o’-lantern face, then shade in with a thick black permanent marker.

When you’re done creating your fun and spooky face and the marker dries, stuff your pumpkin sack with big, soft, plushy quilts and a few sturdy quilts.

Watch your kids with this activity and limit it to two at a time!

3. DIY Lifesize Friendly Scarecrow

Adorable boy with a DIY scarecrow

Everyone loves a friendly scarecrow, and this one is fun to make. Grab one of your dad’s or grandpa’s old sweaters and use this tutorial to create your family scarecrow this fall.

My son Rudy proudly stands next to our creation, beaming away handsomely.

The scarecrow was a family favorite for years, and the kids would invent Halloween stories that were spooky but not too scary about the scarecrow.

4. Halloween Cloud Dough Art

Have fun with cloud art and make Halloween cookie treats! How cute are these?!

Your kids will enjoy creating sweet, non-edible, bright, colorful, and Halloween-themed treats.

The coolest thing about cloud art is its ease of use. It’s great for kids because they can keep their art forever!

It hardens and sets within a few hours, leaving you with a wonderful creation to show off to friends and family.

My son Anthony made the bottom ones, and I created the top ones! Super fun!

5. DIY Halloween Sensory Bin

It is the most popular bin I created for Halloween, and I enjoy its effortlessness and affordability.

You don’t have to break the bank or do the most to get this beautiful bin.

6. DIY Fall Tree Halloween Activities For Kids

These cute DIY fall decorations are very creative and bring the fall spirit into your home.

You can use brown paper bags and create cutouts using construction paper for the leaves.

Help your kiddos cut out and color the leaves. I also used parchment paper to make it appear the leaves are falling.

Use mod podge to glue the leaves onto the branches.

Lastly, use tape to hold the tree together and twist the branches to create stick-like branches.

7. Spiderweb Bushes Halloween Activities for Kids

Get creative and string some fake spiderwebs from the dollar store. These bags cost a dollar or two and have such an impact on your outdoor decor.

Letting the kids thread synthetic cobwebs around the bushes is fun, creating a fun Halloween activity for older kids.

8. Jell-O for Brains

Th best part about this, it’s edible!

9. Beaded Little Witch Craft (brujita) Halloween Activities for Kids

Craft this cool craft with your niece, daughter, or grandkids. For boys, you can create a warlock!

Brujita means little witch in Spanish. My niece made this, and I found it absolutely adorable.

Draw an outline of your child and let them get creative coloring and decorating their project.

To preserve the artwork and ensure the Beads didn’t fall off, we used Mod Podge to glue them on for all activities.

10. DIY Jack and Sally Craft

The Nightmare Before Christmas is one of the most popular movies based on Halloween. Jack and Sally are an excellent pair to create out of white printer paper and construction paper.

Grab some permanent markers and some Mod Podge to paste the eyes on or draw them on if you’d like.

I cut Sally’s hair out of construction paper and glued it on her head, which looked fabulous.

This was one of the kids’ favorite Halloween activities. However, the next one is a Halloween activity that made for a fun night!

11. Pumpkin Degutting Fun!

Halloween activities for kids. Three little boys having fun pumpkin degutting

There’s nothing better than sticking your hand inside a jack-o’-lantern, squishing it, and feeling all of the seeds and Pulp.

This is a great sensory activity for kids and an even better Halloween activity for kids to do together.

Let them draw ideas for each of their pumpkins. You can either get them a carving kit or assist them by creating the carvings.

Bake them in the oven and provide them with a nice salty snack after the carving is done.

Remember: If there are no messes, then it is not fun! Have fun outdoors or in your kitchen, and use plenty of newspapers to make cleanup easier.

Always remember to supervise young children so they do not indulge in eating the raw pumpkin seeds.

12. Jack-o’-lantern Fun Halloween Activities for Kids

Halloween activities for kids. Jacko'lanterns

Once you’ve finished the degutting process, it’s time to carve your pumpkins. Why do we do this?

Carving Jack’o lanterns derives from the ancient Celtic Festival in Ireland.

Lighting a jack-o’-lantern was used to scare away monsters and ghosts that would come on Halloween night so that people would set them out on their front porch to scare any evil spirits away.

Now, we use it as a fun activity to celebrate Halloween in America!

You can also use glowsticks to light your pumpkins as a safe candle alternative.

13. DIY Unique Fall Candles

To create a spooky ambiance, make these remarkable DIY fall and Halloween candles to illuminate your house.

I wrote an article about three of the most unique Halloween candles, which you can check out here to learn more about how to make your DIY fall candles with your kids for Halloween.

I got these cute candle holders at my local Dollar Store.

14. Spooky Fruits Healthy and Fun!

Lastly, we are going to enjoy some spooky fruits.

I love letting the children color faces on the jack-o-lanterns because they look so cute.

I used a light, nontoxic pen to outline the faces so the kids could fill them in.

The best part is that the outer shell protects the fruit on the inside, keeping it from getting the toxins from the marker.

This idea has been in our family for years, and it gets the kids wanting healthy fruits versus candy during the month, which is a win-win.

Of course, they would always earn their candy. However, the bright orange of these tangerines is perfect because they resemble little Jack-o-Lanterns.

15. Recycled Newspaper Jack O’ Lanterns

Fun Recycled Newspaper Jack'o lanterns

Don’t throw your newspapers out! Seriously! I created these with the kids, and it was a fun two-day project.

Grab some balloons and blow them up, but not gigantic. Next, cut newspapers into strips and dip them in Mod Podge.

Place the gooey strips on the balloon one by one until completely covered. Repeat the process and set them to dry in the sun.

Your Mod Podge balloons should be ready to be placed in the recycled newspaper bag by the next day.

Now, you can create fun cutouts and spooky Jack O’ Lanterns with your kids.

We used an old black shoebox to make the cutouts, but you can use anything else to make fun faces. Get creative!
